Michael Walton is the Executive Director for ACNielsen Liquor Services for NZ and Australia.
Michael has been based in Auckland since July 2005 after five years in the ACNielsen Australian business. Initially holding the role of Director, Retail Client Service he has led internal restructuring to maximise the business ability to bring holistic solutions to client issues and to leverage the businesses broad resources. Michael was appointed as Director, Retailing Services on November 1st 2006, bringing over 15 years retailing experience to the position, before being appointed to his current position of Executive Director, Liquor, Nielsen Pacific on 1 April 2008.
Prior to moving to Auckland, Michael established a specialised liquor team, servicing all major wine producers, small to mid sized wineries, liquor manufacturers, retailers and financial analysts. Additionally he coordinated the first ever review of the Australian total beverage market – the ACNielsen Wider Beverage Report, covering beverage types, pack formats, flavours and pricing. Michael retains Pacific responsibility for Liquor Industry services.
Prior to ACNielsen, Michael came from a long career in the liquor retail environment, including a period of 5 years as National Marketing Manager for the independent liquor group Porter’s Liquor.
